Hi !
I am Mr. Iyngaran Iyathurai, software engineer (PHP and Java) in Monara PLC and Lecturer of software engineering in the British College Of Applied Studies.
I was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka and educated at Manipay Hindu College (Mathematics), British College Of Applied Studies, Sri Lanka ( HND in Software engineering) and Middlesex University, UK (Information Technology BSc (Hons) ). Academically I am a student who likes to be mentally challenged and I enjoy both hands on projects as well as conventional learning. I am an enthusiastic Cricket and Foot Ball Player.
Job involve on a day-to-day basis
Developing and maintaining software systems that behave reliably and efficiently, are affordable to develop and maintain, and satisfy all the requirements that customers have defined for them.
Usually I have three or four projects that I lead. Project work mostly takes care of modeling our base product to specific clients need. Small clients often make minor adjustments to the flow of the applications; bigger clients usually demand an overhaul to parts of our system. My job then is to strategically extend existing base functionality and ensure that bugs are not introduced into other parts of the system.
Research Experience
- Live & On-Demand Media Streaming - Built and evaluated a system for broadcasting media over the internet (Broadcasting to computers and mobile).
- Designed and Developed a .net Component to detects motion from a video source and integrated with a office security system.
- Researched on various topics relating to digital image processing.
- VOIP Applications - Built and evaluated a system to routing of voice calls over the Internet or through any other IP-based network.
- Automated SMS based applications development
Industry Experience
- Trainee & Junior Software Engineer, Jans (Private) Limited.
Added new functionality to existing PHP Applications, designed web pages and tested operations for components.
Created standards for test harnesses in client/server relational database operations of components.
- Associate Software Engineer & Software Engineer, Hemnette Web Solutions.
Added new modules for existing applications and Analysis, design, construction and delivery of custom software based
solutions.
- Software Engineer, Proporta Pvt.Ltd.
Update and maintain existing applications and developing new applications.

I’ve been gold bricking here at work all day and my boss would certainly kill me if he found out I was reading this stuff all afternoon! OK, admin, some questions. How long did it normally take you to write a blog here? And how costly is it to pay for hosting per month? It would be nice to have a page of my own on the net. However I’ve never actually ran one before, so here I am asking you. It would really give me a head start, if you could either email me or respond here… thank you.

Q1. How long did it normally take you to write a blog here? .
May be 1.5 to 3 hrs per blog. I am doing it, when I learn something. I am working as a software engineer. When I get a new requirement , I will do the research and add that functionality to the system. After that, I will write it as a blog on my site, So others can use the blog, if they get the same requirement.
Q2. how costly is it to pay for hosting per month?
I am Sri Lankan. In our country RS 3 500 Per Year = $ 3 / Year.
* It would be nice to have a page of my own on the net.
Yes bother/Sister. Thats a good idea. Its really interesting. Boz when we learn something, if we have it as blog on our sites, thats useful for US and as well as to others who are looking for it. SO I encourage you to do this.
